I know the niche of my blog is 'Fashion' but there's something I experienced that needs to be shared with the world. The earthquake in Nepal. I am a Nepalese and reside in my very own home-country Nepal. Read out my experience.
We Nepalese will never forget the day of April 25, 2015. It
was Saturday; the day when we faced the natural phenomena known to us as
Earthquake.
I am also an earthquake victim along with other thousands of
Nepalese. The place I live is called Syuchatar. We faced a lot of damage and
destruction. Most of the houses are completely destroyed and some are standing
tall with major damages. 12 members of our neighborhood died under their
collapsed houses. Most of the livestock died.
When we faced the earthquake, we didn’t know what was
happening. We had no clue what was going on and how could this be happening. We
were devastated. All of our community members got into a bare field and stayed
there the entire afternoon facing the aftershocks together and praying that we
survive. We made groups in the evening and set up a tent with confidence that
we will live for the best to come.
We ate and slept without knowing what will happen next and
how will we survive when we have lost everything that took us our entire life
to build. We were in trauma and still struggling with it. I saw houses falling
down; I saw them turn into ruins and it didn’t even take an entire minute for
that sort of destruction. My own brother was trapped under a house; I myself
with my family with our bare hands struggled to take him out of that mess. I
experienced what I had never imagined to have ever faced in my life. He was
under that collapsed house for half an hour, we managed to take him out and get
him to a hospital as soon as we could. His nose was broken and he had severe
injuries but he is fine now.
There were aftershocks, heavy rain and strong wind. There
was no electricity, the power was cut. The early days after facing the
earthquake were difficult. The only source of light at night time was the moon.
We stayed up entire night holding the tent, wishing it would not be blown away
by the strong wind. We kept on wishing that the tent would hold up and resist
the rain. We kept on wishing the aftershocks stopped. We just kept on praying
for the safety of our family members and relatives who were out of contact at
that moment. All we could do was hope and pray for the best.
The earthquake brought us into a crisis. We don’t have
enough supplies for a good living but it sure taught us some valuable lessons
for the best way to live. I have learnt to sacrifice, compromise, keep patience,
be optimistic , maintain a brave attitude and not easily give up. The most
valuable lesson I have learnt is that we should never be afraid to start again.
If we built it once ourselves then, we can rebuild it again. We Nepalese are
born and raised under pressure; we do better under pressure and have the
ability to overcome any obstacle before us.
It would be a mistake if we give up now and flee away,
because this is an opportunity to rebuild and make everything better forsake of
our country Nepal. We are given a chance again, to start re-building again with
a strong enthusiasm and celebrate life. Whatever may come in front of us, if we
are together and united without any biasness we will not only survive this
catastrophe but win our lives.
Thanks for reading it all! Just for our country that it get backs to normal soon.
